Spy Sherrif and UnSpyPC

(Sara writing)
We lost most of yesterday because we visited some library site where those two bastard files were waiting, plus some toolbar. We got rid of them in a ten hour fight but managed to put a couple of holes in Windows again, now we can't put up a screensaver. Roy called the computer "Old Sparky" and I think the name is going to stick.
Should you ever have the misfortune, Spy Sherrif is NOT a free spyware download. Neither is UnSpy PC. Nor the toolbar that comes with both many times. If you get them DO NOT do the following:
DO NOT uninstall them. If you have a file shredder such as comes with CyberScrub Privacy Suite, or McAfee's Internet Suite, shred the whole program folder.
DO NOT follow instructions in screen balloons, like "favset.exe had an error and needs to close...send report / don't send / click here;" "Windows has determined you have no spyware, to remedy the situation click the ballooon;" and if you get the toolbar, DO NOT use it and DO NOT click "remove toolbar," the consequences of doing anything like this is you launch the whole thing. If you have System Restore on, shut it off and delete or shredd whatever is in the System Volume Information folder, a "hidden" folder you're not supposed to touch. Physically disconnect your tower from the Internet, whether Ether or DSL or dial-up, and uninstall your antivirus and antispyware IF you have the CD; they have been corrupted by the bugs also; once uninstalled, delete any reference to them in Application Data across the "users" folders, then re-install them. Let them run, then take your machine to the shop.
